"Choi Choong-yeon, who will become the best stopper in the league," coach Choi Il-eon's boast, but a prerequisite is attached

Coach Choi Il-eon, who newly took the helm of the Samsung Lions Futures team, emphasized the importance of basic skills.

Choi Il-eon, the coach of Futures, played for OB Bears, LG Twins, and Samsung. He pitched in 240 games and posted 78 wins, 57 losses and 11 saves with an ERA of 2.87.스포츠토토

After retiring from active duty, he served as a national team pitching coach and an independent baseball team's Suwon Dreams pitching coordinator as well as professional clubs such as OB, Doosan, Hanwha Eagles, SK Wyverns, and NC Dinos. The club expects Choi Il-eon, head coach of Futures with abundant field experience, to help foster prospects in the team.

Coach Choi Il-eon, who met at Gyeongsan Ball Park on the 26th, said, "Our team's goal this season is to win the Korean Series. If you don't aim to win, there is no reason for the Futures team to exist. It is the role of the Futures team to support the first team to maintain strong power. As I aim to win this season, I will play a good role as a backup."

Choi Il-eon also stressed, "The first team is literally a battlefield. The Futures team is responsible for nurturing talented people who are needed for war. Only when the development system is well equipped can the first team fight well and continue to be a strong team in the future."

Choi Choong-yeon and Yang Chang-seop, who were nominated in the first round, were the standouts. "If they demonstrate their abilities properly, they can be of great help to the team's strength," he said.

Expectations are high for Choi, who once played as a must-winner. "There are some things I need to do when throwing a ball, but if it doesn't hurt, I'm confident I will revive it. He is a talent who will become the best stopper in the league. I tasted the bitterness of baseball and became more desperate than before, so I think it's possible as long as he doesn't get sick." This is what Choi Il-eon said.

Choi Il-eon, who emphasized the importance of playing catch, said, "Baseball can never be good at throwing poorly. Players who have become main infielders at a young age like Park Jin-man are good at throwing balls. Catch ball is a basic part of baseball. Both pitchers and fielders will increase the proportion of their training to instill the importance of catch ball once again."

Coach Choi Il-eon, who met with the players for the first time on the 25th, called for not to be caught up in the incident and ruin the player's life.

"What a professional baseball player looks like is important, but how he or she should quit is important. The ideal way to retire is to retire with honor. That requires the time and effort of the moment. What a waste it would be if players risk their lives to work hard, but suddenly they get involved in an accident and quit baseball. We should make sure such a mishap does not happen. If the players try hard to succeed, the coaching staff will do their best to help them."

While the Futures team has a strong opinion that the amount of training should be large, coach Choi Il-eon voiced his opinion that both quantity and quality are important.

"Control is the most important thing for a pitcher. From a manager's point of view, he needs to know how to throw a strike. Throwing 160 kilometers is useless if he fails to throw a strike. You need to learn how to throw as many balls as possible to boost control," he said. "For example, a batter needs to swing hard to increase the speed of his bat. The same goes for defense. You need to get a lot of funkos to improve your skills."

The quantity and quality must be in harmony. "It is not everything to do a lot. It is important not to get hurt. It is not only the trainer's responsibility to prevent injury. If a pitcher's balance collapses when throwing a ball, he or she can get hurt. It is the coach's role to stop it. If you solve the problem and throw again, there is no problem even if you throw 100 or 200 balls. The same goes for batters," Choi said.

When asked how he plans to run the fielder's part as a former pitcher, he said, "Park Han is good at the hitting part, and Jeong Byeong-gon was also good at defense. I am almost leaving the fielder's part to him. I will talk to him if I need anything."

Lastly, he said, "Samsung is a prestigious club. It is also a club that marked the end of its career. Once a very strong team, everyone is making efforts to regain its strength once again. I also want to support it."
